Why Roots Matter
Have you ever noticed patterns of behavior, relationships or attributes in your family that seem to repeat themselves? Do athletes, entrepreneurs, teachers, artists, musicians, mathematicians or scientists “run” in your family? What about depression, violence, and substance abuse? We inherit both healthy and unhealthy habits from our ancestors whether we are aware of them or not.

What We Do
We learn about our family and cultural history in order to recognize the sources of strength and suffering. Understanding the connection to our lives can inform the decisions we make.

How
Using the genogram , we record what we know of our family story. We learn about the historical events that shaped our ancestors’ lives and subsequently our lives.
